Hi guys has anyone own/owned at k22 lbp in 22lr and what are your thoughts ? Currently have a 1911 gsg and think of a change/upgrade.

So thoughts:

Nice, well made pistol that handles well and takes me back to my military days. I have found it to be very ammunition fussy with CCI being the most reliable. That said, dealing with fail to fire becomes a drill and can be addressed in split seconds - record I had was 5 strikes on one Blazer round before it fired🙇‍♂️

Nick Hulme of M9 engineering does fettling parts, mostly for the GSG 1911 but he also does some kit for the K22 including longer firing pins which I have fitted. The 2MOA Shield Sight is incredibly lightweight and works very well - Nick has just produced a new lightweight mount and I’ll try one out soon. He has also just extended some CZ mags to fit the K22 that take 22 rounds! Mine is one of the first acquired from Shooting Supplies from whom you can get Nick’s parts. I think they are now on a Mk3 variant and if I were you, that’s where I’d be looking.

Mine mostly gets used on steel at 50m in between target changes on my range as a little “fun”. Certainly brings a smile to my face when using it and it cycles a full mag without issue.

Some pictures of the firing pins which change:

Oh wow thanks for the write up - certainly looks the part and from what I read it’s not made from cheap alloy - you mentioned cz mags is that a aftermarket or interchangeable from another firearm? I from what you are saying the front pin would probably need upgrading straight from the box. Is the magwell flared for quick changes or do you know if there is an aftermarket slip on (like on an AR) - I’m thinking tuned pistol competitions.

I like my gsg but fancy a change, something a bit more premium and reliable - however i do find stoppages to be part of the fun/challenge as everyone during a comp seems to get them….

My semi auto doesn’t like Blazer but the gsg seems to treat all standard velocity 22lr equal

@terryo I got my K22 back in 2015 - much has changed since so I'd try the MK3 before thinking about a possible firing pin change.

Look up Nick at M9 Engineering - he's a fantastic machinist with brilliant ideas. Has has a FB page with many videos of his many tuning parts and preps and there's also a K22 Group.

I think the fail to fire was the early models, had mine for two/three years and any problems have been with bad batches of cci standard and mini mag.
I like it's a full size pistol but I find it a little light. The only thing that's annoyed so far some of the mags required a bit of work to drop out and the last round hold open isn't the greatest for it to stay open I have to give the lever a wee push up before dropping the mag.
