Wanted: Leather working tools or info on supplier

I make most of my own kit like the different knives and hand tools . Really wanted a good stitching pony but i learned doing it freehand when i was looking for one . There is some proper rubbish kit sold for leatherwork, if you can try and get the old kit ( a lot of it is ex-military )

Abbey england sell good leather and accessories such as buckles. Worth taking a look at the website.
I started on ebay and bought majority of my stuff second hand. Cobblers equipment saddlers equipment.

Cheers guys
I’m quietly getting some bits together, got a well made set of cutting blades on route and some other bits
Matter of thread, needles rivets etc to start, got some nice pieces of leather as well
Cheers
Phil

👍 Handy having you blade making skills, I managed to get hold of English made steel cutters etc hoping I can keep them as they should be
There are loads of kits available but toooo much aluminium for me, I’m happy just getting tools as I find them in steel, there is a bit of waiting time involved but not worried over that 🙂

You can also pick up some vintage tools on ebay. Another possibility is Kemovan Leather Tools, I have found the quality good and prices reasonable.

Thanks Geoff W
Just a look
Wow
They have some lovely gear

Cheers

Buy your leather ready to go colour wise, get some dye that matches for the edges to the original colour . Contact Adhesive can be widely sourced . river type ? there are lots of different types , ask the supplier what they recommend for the task at hand ( remember the tools are different types and sizes - for the specifics ) .
Try to avoid purchasing small quantities of leather , its really expensive that way in the long run . Full single shoulder or butt is around £150 but the beast size varies so its done
Wax? Dont actually need it with good leather ready finishe d / coloured. Cut edges you want a product like super sheen for burnishing and antler is a great tool to rub it up
Regards the thin draw bag type leather i have some brown thin stuff i salvaged from an old sofa , if you want some to gey you going?

Guys
Looking to get some leather working tools to have a go at making a couple of belts, ammo bags etc out of leather

Anyone got any spare tools or a full kit they’re aren’t using or know a trusted supplier for a new kit and a leather supplier

Cheers
Phil
Hi Overlay,

Have these vintage tools at the back of the cupboard if you are still looking, the linen threads are old but I still nearly cut my finger when I wound it around my finger and pulled  . Don't know the value, maybe someone on here might know a reasonable price.
