Librela injection for Dogs

Hi All,
My eldest lab has been on meloxidyl (metacam) for arthritis for about a year now, he's doing well and is bang on weight wise, i wondered if anyone had use the librela injection treatment for the same issue? Interested on any feedback or experiences?

I hear good feedback from owners. Seems to be well tolerated and a useful adjunct to other pain management strategies.

I’ve been using it for my elderly GSD for over a year now. Injected monthly.

You could see the difference from the first injection, worth every penny. I inject my dog myself, the vets supply needles and syringes, saves a trip to the vets and resultant consultation fee.

In this case extremely well tolerated and no side effects.

Have tried numerous other meds/complimentary bits but Librela bar far trumps the lot of them.

My collie started on it 3 months ago.

Old lab -13 had been on Metacam for quite a while then moved to Librella jab 3 months ago. No obvious changes as she was pretty good on Metacam - advice from vet was that Librella has much less risk of organ damage - liver and kidneys so no brainer. £64 every 5 weeks.

Our Springer is on Librella and the difference after the first jab was immediate he's been on it 18months - 2 years now, though he has a Galliprant tablet each day instead of the Metacam as its supposed to target pain differently and doesn't have the organ damage issues of Metacam we were told.

Our vet suggested paracetamol daily. Half a tablet a day, our dog had done something to his back as in disc problem or torn muscle from about the age of seven.He lived to be fourteen. Just to add our vet is a one in a million, advice is free, alternative medications are recommended so if and when we have to pay for the vets medication we do so with no questions asked.

Our 15 year old ESS dog is on Librela.

23kg dog £115 per injection per month plus consult fee of £35.

He is fine, in retirement.

After years of totally loyal graft from him its the least I can do.

I used to be a vet . The feedback I get from my colleagues is that it is good , especially if your dog has a delicate stomach and can’t tolerate regular meds such as Loxicom

Good experience from me for an elderly lab bitch (whose legs were not helped by jumping off a rather high bridge when younger!) Also from brother-in-law using it on even more elderly lab dog. Well-tolerated in both cases, and it becomes obvious when needing the next dose…New lease of life!

God almighty - more than twice what I pay for a 30kg Labrador - though I would pay twice that again without hesitation.
