Locating A Painting For Historical Research

The image is a monochrome photograph owned by the Mills Archive. The archive know who took the photograph but have no information as to where it was taken. The photographer is no longer with us.
The painting is a watercolour dated 1855 by John Moyer Heathcote senior. The archive have it entitled 'Drainage Mill Yaxley'.
Despite many hours of internet research, I have not been able to locate the whereabouts of the painting.

If I could discover its location, I would seek permission to photograph it. I would use a modern photograph to enhance and illustrate various local historical papers being produced.
If any of our members recognise the painting a PM would be very much appreciated. :tiphat:1773 Drainage Mill and Scoopwheel 3 resize.jpg

Looks like Yaxley, Peterboro, church on hill above what was Whittlesey mere.
That is exactly right. :thumb: Yaxley, South of Peterborough, Cambs.

There was a Napoleonic musket range associated with Norman Cross on the mill site from 1797 to 1814. The mill dates from 1773 and stood until 1875.
We have recently published a booklet all proceeds from which are being donated to Sue Ryder Hospice.Load, Aim, FIRE! Front and back covers.webp

Hi mate could this be the view from Normans Cross looking towards the church taken off Google Earth 1945? Looks like there could have been a small body of water similar to the one next to the windmill in the pic prior to the knot hole being dug as it is now and is shown in the later satellite photos.
Was there not a windmill near the top junction of Waterslade Lane and London Rd back in the day which could be the one in the distance on the drawing? There is a feature off London Rd in the 2nd pic which could have been the site of the windmill, again before the knot hole was dug that later got filled in when the big mound was levelled. I remember playing there as a snotty nosed oik getting in trouble riding on the back of the machinery while the drivers were not looking!!! Yaxley church looking from Normans Cross.webpPoss windmill location waterslade lane.webp
