Hello,

I'm thinking of buying some of these for my gun cabinets, Just wondered if anybody has got them and are they effective in keeping any humidity away, also just wondered what is their opinion is of them.

It's just 8 Watt electric heater. If you have e.g. small portable table lamp you can use a LED bulb in it (few quid) and try. Place it as near the bottom as possible so air circulation works best.

Lockdown rods don't seem too expensive so if it works you can always buy and install them.

Or a reptile heat mat as they come in a selection of low wattages, take up less room and are considerably cheaper too!

Thanks for all your suggestions. regarding the reptile heat mat, not sure how you could fit it, as the rifles would have to sit on it?

I have 3 of these Brattonsound RD7+ Extra Deep Gun Cabinet

I've pondered sticking it to the outside and let the metal conduct the heat in.

Could stick it on the outside but I'd cover it with polystyrene or something similar to insulate it and send most the heat in rather than out into the room.

Hello,

I have one in my Liberty Safe. Humidity used to range between 70% and 80% (we don't have central heating) but since fitting it, the levels are more like 50%-60%. This latter range is just right, I think: dry enough to prevent the metal from rusting but moist enough to prevent the wood from drying out. Have had it for two years now and have been very pleased with it.

Kind regards,

Carl
