long range rifle

I already have a 270 which shoots great , just want a new toy i want it for hunting but my son is fancying long range target shooting
does anyone have experience of 7mm 08 the write up is pretty good on them

I'd agree with what most people are saying I can get a reasonable group with my .30-06 with Federal 180g Vital-Shok(affraid I'm am not that technical to re load my own!) at up to 500m.

As for the .375H&H. I find it the most verusatile rifle for use in Africa as you can use it on anything from a Spring Buck to a Elephant but my group size are massive at anything over 300m and at 6ft drop plus from 100 to 500m its not a long range rifle. The best group I have evry achieved with a factory ammo at 300m is about 5 in ( under 2in at a 100m)

Quite a few of us on here have 7mm 08 rifles,
it works well on long range paper, not tried over about 280m on live "targets"
