Ok, so, I’m fed up with pulling my sticks in and out of the car And getting sat on or hitting me on the back of the head, can't close them down any more due to the fact they might not be straight any more, but hey ho, They are still usable so no point in replacing them.

I know there is this clamp thingie that as you push in, it trips a spring or something and it grips tight. I have no idea what it's called or even where I have seen it, but seen it I have, at some point in the dim and distant past.
It might be some expensive industrial thing. But anybody got an idea? Plan is to bolt, glue, clamp to my roof rack then I can simply press the sticks into it and they will be firmly gripped, then when I get out, they are there for me to grab.

Failing that I am open to alternative ideas. Possibly bungee cords with a big button on the end like sailers used to use to hold the cover on over the mainsail. Showing my nautical abilities there, not that I have been on a sailing boat in 10, err, maybe 20 years? Anybody fancy taking me out on their yacht? See if I can still remember how to do it. I used to be very good, years ago. I digress. Clampie thing, that is the priority.

over to you clampiee sorterouters.

4" Poly pipe blank one end off other end screw fitting collar /other end , two big ring clams or 4 inch u bolts or bend a bit of 3/8 stud DIY bolted on rack around £25 all done

Bit of tube on the passenger high level grab rail and a bungee on the back passenger one safe and secure in the motor and easy to get to

Depending on the size of the sticks:

These cable tied to roof rack.

I use two pairs bolted back-to-back and attached to the vehicle’s roll cage. Same ones have been in place since 2005.

@Klenchblaize Exactly my thoughts - a question though if I may? I live about 80 minutes from my regular stalking and much of this is done at motorway speeds. Whilst I wouldn't intend to transit with the sticks externally held in the clamps, do you get any wind noise/whistling from leaving the grips permamently tie-wraped to the roofrack?

I drive a mobile shed Landrover Defender so I’m only spared noise/whistling when vehicle is stationary!

You raise a good question in terms of ‘normal’ vehicle fitment and imagine positioning and angle will play a part.
