Looking for film to watch

Good to see that there's not too many superhero films full of special effects and no original storylines.

Here's a few to consider:

Saving Private Ryan. A real treat if you are the only one in the world not to have seen it.

Gladiator. Not perfect but the best sword and sandal flick. But probably seen that too.

The Big Country. A Western from 1958 starring Gregory Peck and Charlton Heston. Burl Ives won an Oscar too. If you are looking for a classic, here it is. Keeps you glued.

The Godfather Trilogy. Mentioned before but with good reason.

Forrest Gump. You might think it's naff (and it is) but still excellent and that soundtrack!

Unforgiven. Another Western, but probably Clint's best ever.

Jaws. Classic. Just don't watch any of those that came after.

Goodfellas. Civilisation New York style!

Midnight Cowboy. Dustin Hoffman and the underrated John Voight at their best.

Fargo. Absolutely brilliant Coen brothers film.

Get Carter. Not the remake. Obviously.

True Romance. Excellent story, brilliant acting and really worth watching for the delightful Patricia Arquette alone.

Leon (The Professional) An everyday story of a simple but effective hitman and a young girl. Jean Reno as the hitman (Leon) with Natalie Portman and an excellent Gary Oldman as a DEA agent.

The Man Who Would Be King. The best of Michael Caine and Sean Connery in a fantastic film directed by John Huston. Stirring stuff.

Zulu. More stirring stuff. If you haven't seen it, give yourself a shake!

Pulp Fiction. Not everyone's cuppa but a good example of the strange talent of Quentin Tarantino.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. One to watch with the kids/grandkids. Gene Wilder's acting is superb. Again don't watch the remake!

Carry On Up The Khyber. (or another Carry On of your choice) Of their time and couldn't be made today. Watch one or or two before they are banned. Simple humour but you still laugh. "Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me".

Alan, you must get out more.

It is one of the things which goes with being an old fart...I have been looking at films for a long time...I have listed less than one for every year so far! :)
