Lyman gen 6 problem

Anyone had any problems with their lyman gen 6 scales not calibrating and found a solution ?

They have worked fine for the last 3 years no issues what so ever and I don't hammer them just reload for vermin.

Now yesterday I went to use them and when calibrating they are showing 50.76, it's always been 50g bang on.

I have stripped and cleaned them still not sorted and as far as I believe no one repairs them so that means near £300 down the drain.

I've run a Gen 6 for the last 7 years. I've found it somewhat temperamental at times. If you tilt the unit at all it will change the reading. I calibrate in grains and I believe 50g = 771.6grns. Sometimes it will under-read by a few 10ths of a grain. I correct this by sliding a piece of card under the front of the unit so it's tilted back. It won't work at all if you place a mobile phone anywhere near it.
Hope this helps!

I have a Lyman 300 small electronic scale which jumped off my bench without my help of course two months ago. I tried to recalibrate it using youtube experts = no good. Bought a £10 chinese jobby which was not so accurate then I found the original carton with the Lyman instructions still in it so before binning it all I had a quick read did what it said and it came back into working mode. Then it played up again a few weeks later as I had used those chinese batteries, replaced them with two new good make AAA ones and it is back working as it should.

Hi all

Quick up date to help all.

In the end it was powder under the weigh bar, I had to remove the weigh bar as the powder was stuck to it.
There is a rubbery/ sticky coating on the bottom of the bar.

Scales are working fine again.

Also any problems contact lyman USA brill to deal with and very helpful.
