March scopes; are they any good?

I'm planning to have a go at some longer range targets and I think my hunting scope will need upgrading to a more tactical type but still suitable for hunting and fairly light. After surveying the market the March 2.5-25 X 42 looks like the ideal all-rounder, especially mounted using Optilock ringmounts. I checked out some on-line reviews and one on-line source from the US was less than complimentary. This got me thinking that I hardly see any for sale or mentioned on SD or elsewhere.

Has anyone got one? What's it like? How does it compare with top end products from Zeiss, Swaro, S & B etc?

CH. I have one that sometimes sits on my 6XC. It's not cheap, but it's a very good scope. Talk to Gary March Scopes | Home Page | March Scopes I had a small mishap with mine due to my error and it was fixed free of charge.

I wish I'd not swapped mine. Only thing I found was mine (10x mag min) was hopeless in low light and was a real pain to try and find foxes in the lamp. However, for shooting long range bunnies, crows etc and dialling in blah blah blah it was excellent and I do miss it. Get an illuminated ret.

I use a 5-50x56 . I have shot everything from foxs at 5 yards to deer.......waaay out there . I love it , and the mtr-2 reticle is awesome.
I thing the 5-50 really is a do-it-all scope.

This might help you, one of the few well conducted and useful tests on scopes, it is worth reading all of it if you can rather than just the headline and clearly your priorities might weigh things up slightly different from their "scoring" system but all the info is there to allow you to consider the scope in relation to your requirements:

Caorach, not exactly a glowing report. But, as you say, it's all about priorities and the weight of most if not all the competitors count them out for hunting.

Contrary to the precision rifle blog reviews , i always thought march had a really good range of reticles.
The march tested also had the smallest objective out of all the scopes .

the ones i'v'e looked through were good but with such a broad mag range i felt eyebell could been bigger
