Mauser Switch Barrel costs

While surfing the net, I noticed that the cost of barrels was very wide ranging.
I am referring to the Blaser/Sauer/Mauser consortium.
Why can I buy a Blaser R8 barrel costing a very reasonable amount yet the same calibre for my Mauser M03 costs 3 times as much??
is it purely a case of supply and demand?
ie more R8 rifles and spares are sold in the UK?
in which case is there a way to buy direct from the factory?

Hi Herbi,

I had wondered the same, I think the type of barrel makes a difference. A standard weight .243 Blaser barrel may be about £700 but a heavy weight flutted .243 might be £1200 .

Hopefully ill be ordering a mauser m03 extreme in .308 tomorrow but wanted a .243 barrel with it. the barrel is £765

All the time they can get people to pay that amount the costs wil stay the same. If people don't but then they have to drop the cost or stop making them. Personally I cannot see why a production barrel should cost that much.

I'm not buying additional Mauser barrels for my M03's for exactly this reason. Ridiculous prices.
