Mini mags and CCI subsonic 22's.

Picked up some of the above Saturday to try and I'm pleasantly surprised!
Never really had a rifle that likes minimags but this little flighty light 1022 likes them.
100 ish yards off hand rapid fire.IMG_20230326_180755.webp

The subsonic CCI was refreshingly good too.
At 50ish yards shot off hand rapid fire they did well apart from me pulling one high.

For a final test I shot Winchester subbies, old ones at 200 yds or so offhand at a breeze block and did well once I got the hold over. The CCI at the same target were certainly no worse.
The minimags with roughly half the hold scored equal hits on the block.
Nice little session and I'm quite happy with the rifle.

CCI Mini Mags are a go to in these parts. After Winchester Super-X went to crap, and Aguila lowered the standards on their brilliant Super Extra HV (got rid of Eley Prime), Mini Mag and CCI Blazer have been the High Velocity stand-ins. At least the ones you can get on a regular basis. ~Muir

Nice!
CCI subs are excellent in my wee rifle but conversely their HVs are scattergun performance. I am still experimenting and trying different rounds now that my old head is finally (almost) mastering the challenge of holdover with the wee rifle at any (for .22 subs) great distance - the result of many years of the excellent flat-shooting .17hmr.
To be honest I don’t really think I will use HVs but I will get some Minimags simply because experimenting is fun!

Always found CCI Subs to group well in the bolt actions and hard to beat for price. If the semi auto likes them and cycles you're onto a winner. My little Marlin 795 won't cycle them properly but loves CCI Standard, nothing in them noise wise to the Subs either. £5 a box.
Both are good ammo, cost effective and readily available. That's my criteria.
Mini Mags on the other hand scarred me for life. Tried them through my 455, well just because. Spread all over the place and took 100 Eley Subs to get the barrel back on. Lesson learnt😊

Funny isn't it how one rifle will behave over the other. I'll have to try some standard when I find some 👍🏻

My ancient Annie .22lr loves Minimags, as much as I wanted it to shoot with something else nothing touched the accuracy of Minimags.

funny enough, i have an old underlever winchester, and mini mags work great ( well no worse than anything else), well rabbits at about 50 to 75 are OK
But put them in my arnie, and even though the arnie is way more accurate than the Wini, they are shocking bad! Might be the Winchester is so bad that the mini mags make little difference, and the arnie is very good with SK match etc

CCI MiniMags were a fav during my halcyon teen hunting days (1970s), along with ICI Civics and Winchester Rabbitammo.
I had a Winchester 320 and my mate a Unique Semi-auto.
They shot well in both.

I had a Winchester 9422 and it shot great with anything I put through it.
I rate them right up there buddy.
