Moderator for .45 70 Gov

I appreciate many forum members will disagree with this thread on principle but here we go anyway!

Can anyone suggest a suitable moderator (for supersonic rounds). The only one I can find is a Wildcat Elite for £700!!

I have a dpt on my 45/70 , was disappointed with the sound reduction so fitted more baffles which helped but it’s still not quiet even with subsonic ammo

Thanks @tackb , they seem more reasonable! Can you remember which company supplied mod and baffles? I would certainly follow your advice on fitting extra.

I wanted something for supersonic rounds, I believe the Atec is subsonic only in that calibre.

My RFD has ordered me a DPT mod with five extra baffles as @tackb recommended.

I shoot supersonic through it no issues, it helps alot with recoil

DPT arrived and fitted to the Bergara. Looks good but won’t have a chance to zero until next week. I like the possibility of removing extra baffles if necessary but doubt I will! Thanks all for help.

Whatever you should be using plugs and ear defenders , Whatever you hit with the bullet will be dead ! it will never be quiet unless you run it on subsonic ammo. why buy a big gun then use subsonic eh ?

Yeah, learnt my lesson there. Never wore hearing protection when young and have slight tinnitus now. It just wasn’t a consideration in the 80’s!

I will occasionally shoot it at the gun club indoors with ‘downloads’ that are subsonic but still super loud in a confined space (so obviously hearing protection mandatory).
