Good question.., this slip is more for use when you are actively stalking on ground where you have permission and where a zipped or buckled rifle slip would be a hinderance.

There are no "legalities" with regard to gunbags/slips. You can put your gun in whatever you like.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that as long as the firearm is covered and the trigger/action manipulation isn't readily accessible then all good. Blanket, sleeping bag, what ever you wish. Made sense to me that the individual carrying cannot operate the action/trigger when covered.

Not even that. There's no legal responsibility to cover your firearm in any way when you have it with you for a legitimate reason. It can be common sense in some circumstances, and a product like this one is still great for protecting your rifle from the worst of the elements, etc

Even then I don't think it's a legal requirement, it's just a very sensible thing to do, and would satisfy the requirement of "reasonable precautions".
