There was a Yukon Sightline bouncing around on here at silly money that is perfect for HMR. Save the money - and the decision for the bigger rifles when you come to it
SAKO Quad .17HMR with a PARD 007 seemed a great idea and cheap until I realised adding a rear clip on scope to the back of an already incredibly short rifle was a terrible idea..... now I need a new scope and stock.....
I've got the Alpex 4k and the Zulus5-20lrf, the Zulus is perfect on the 17hmr. The inbuilt IR provides more than enough illumination and generally it makes for a light, compact package.
I have a hik cheetah lrf on pcp and compared to the zulus i its average at best, I am considering scope options for a 17hmr setup and this thread has been useful. I have found the scope firmware updates, app and customer support very good with the hik, and this could sway my decision to stick with hik and go for Alpex 4k lrf …
Ive had a alpex 4k and would rather have that on a centerfire for longer range work at night, this is where the Alpex 4k is at its best.
The zulus v2 is perfect for the HMR, with its built in IR its capable of shooting out to 200yrds easy.
All the scopes will cut the mustard for what you want to do but if you want less weight, less faffing on with a external IR the Zulus will be more than enough
I use ATN on my 17HMR. Not the lightest scope (+the extra range finder) but it is OK for a walk around and shoot from quad-stick and it has a good quality (4K).
After a trial I took the Zulus V1 off the .17hmr and instead put the Pard 008p on cos no need for a rangefinder - pretty much point and shoot - delightful wee rifle!
BTW just been out again with the Zulus V1 now on my 22 lr. - with the Ballistic Calculator, CCI subs and quad sticks 100 plus is a doddle. Shudn’t be allowed really….
I'm using the Zulus V1 on my .17HMR and it works pretty well out to 150yrds with the built in IR. I've been using a Pard N007 on my .22RF and Air Rifle but I'm now seriously contemplating getting myself a V2 Zulus instead!
I've the HIK alpex A50EL 4K on my 17hmr and the DNT zulus zhd520 V2 LRF on my more recently added 22lr. Now thinking to change the rings on the 17hmr to a pic rail and rings so I can swap scopes around as and when I wish... Had I bought the DNT zulus first I'd probably gone for the 3x12 for the 22lr. Amazing scope for a rimfire in both versions. But I also like the HIK although a little weighty coupled with an IR.
Just taken my Alpex 4k off my Sako quad and put it on my .25-06 where it’ll stay. It was the bullocks on the .17hmr though. I replaced it with a pulsar c50 which is grand but way heavy and confusing to use jumping between the two. When I can afford it, I’ll put a non lrf alpex lite on it. Then the controls will be the same on both rifles and it’ll be much lighter.
