Elk, the most memorable, elevation 8000' 7 mile round trip twice, in between the trips we worried about a grizzly bear finding the kill site near Dillon, Montana

A memorable (for all the wrong reasons) one of mine was a doe that ran forty yards with a blown heart and ended up in an 8 foot deep field drain with sheer sides. It wasn't until I'd slithered my way down to her that I realised I'd been stupid enough to a) leave the drag rope in the bag, and b) leave the bloody bag 5 feet from the edge of the ditch. Took me half an hour to get myself out of that f*cking ditch. I was beginning to wonder if I'd have to sleep there
