Muntjac spleen and lung

Hi all
Shot a young muntjac buck and I’m trying to keep better records so took photos of the shot, gralloch etc.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this in the lung and spleen before and are due to the shot* but would rather ask and feel stupid than be wrong.

Lungs were damaged and showed mottling which I think was trauma from the shot.

Spleen had a wavy edge to it. Is that normal?

Other than that, the deer was behaving normally before the shot. Lung/ heart shot and the deer fell immediately to the shot and rolled down a steep bank around 15ft high.

Mesenteric and mandibular nodes were normal. It was a lung/ heart shot so couldn’t find the nodes higher up.

Liver was normal and no sign of fluke. Mouth, tongue, feet all fine.

*85m with 140gr Hornady eldx 6.5CM. Not my preference for a small animal but we also have some fallow around and if they are seen they are the priority on this ground.

Good thread. I found that one before I posted but didn’t realise there were additional photos. Nice one 👍

Normal, the lung oops like normal blood splashing, the wavy spleen may have been splenic contraction as a response to the blood loss
Thank you @Buchan, appreciate the detail. The shot did a lot of damage (not shown on these photos). Didn’t need to bleed it and I discarded both front legs. Not ideal but he was feeding so I wasn’t prepared to take head or neck shot.
