My first ever Fallow

I went out on Saturday morning 17th and I managed to get my first ever Fallow. The weather was raining and overcast with low cloud rolling in. This restricted to where I could go so I stayed on the track that went through the woods. Got too a fork in the track which way should I go. If I went straight on that would take me through the pheasant pen so I took a left which took me onto the white grass/ heather. Just got over the fence and had a look through the Hicmicro, two hot spots. Couldn't see them through the zeiss binoculars. Another look and yes two Fallow pricket coming back towards the pen, were they had been knocking over the feeders. Got set up on the sticks, pinged one with zeiss range finder 140 yards, waited for a broad side safe shot. Let go with the Browing 243 hunderd grain down it went. The other one stood for a while then he went pronking off up the hill. Managed to find him straight away. On inspection straight through the top of the heart pleased with that. So off back for the Jimmy, managed to get it in the back then straight to the butcher in the village.

Well done, they are not a bad size to deal with, go get some more. :tiphat:

Yes my main quarry is Roe deer. So it was different too do a gralloch on the ground
I have set my kit up to work on them from the hoist so do just that, I can lift them but pull my back and laid up for the sake of the turning of my winch handle no ta lol.
Well done again.

Well done. It's one you won't forget.

Hadn't realised Zeiss binos were so poor by modern standards in determining deer ID at first and last light.

We can all learn from SD input no matter our age and prejudices.

I think he might mean that the thermal was picking them up but when looking through the binos, couldn’t see them for cover in the way, I think??
