My Larder Build

As per title, I started building my larder once the Fallow season was finished. I started from SFA and a tight budget and limited space, building from the ground up.
Slowed down round June as work picked up but pretty much there now with some minor snagging to be done.
Once I’m completely happy I will put in for registration as an FBO with my local council and get the inspection done .

Looks brilliant, out of interest what are the overall dimensions of the shed/building. Wouldn’t mind knocking up something similar but only have a small garden
Looks ideal, well done

I had to fit in between the garage and the boundary fence and keeping it under 2.5m high from the highest ground point and under 15m Sq floor space and trying to minimise waste on timber using 4”x2” ( 100mm x 50mm ) framing, it was 2.4m wide and 4.4m long externally if I’m remembering correctly ?
Had to prefabricate the long side panels then lift into place, they are clad in bitumen corrigated sheets . The roof is a rubber membrane the house facing front is feather-board cheap on sale from Selco as are the barn doors . Done the leccy run then got a neighbour to check and sign off and certify . Lights and sockets Screwfix . Internal walls and ceiling 9mm OSB, three coats of acrylic latex primer then three coats of non porous Centrecoat Aqua Anti Bacterial Hygeine paint, designed for food prep areas hospitals etc , if had a bigger budget then I would of went for hygeine cladding boards but I didn’t so researched and found this, used food safe sealants throughout and a food safe curtain to separate the two rooms . Tried a food safe epoxy resin floor paint that was suitable to go straight onto OSB floor after chatting with their technical department but it was a nightmare as it goes off really quick and I wasn’t happy with the coverage.
Managed to find catering Lino on sale so went with that, fairly happy will be happier when the chiller has some Fallow in it 🤣

Would you have a floor plan for how you set that space out and where the doors are etc? I should have something similar in the way of space soon, so trying to think about how best to arrange things.

Thanks for the info…. Looks like it will serve you well for a good few years! Nice !

That's a very sensible question!
Lots of folk post some really inspirational photos of their home-built larder setups, which no doubt viewers are tempted to emulate, and sharing floor plan diagrams would help with that immensely.
We could almost do with a separate section on this site devoted to larder design and installation.

I did have some rudimentary drawings, literally ruler & pencil malarkey to work out timber etc .
All doors are off to the same side and framed straight off the timber wall frame due to restrictions, all opening inwards due to the layout and the access gate I made at the back .
If the drawings haven’t been binned I’ll ping them over or I can Whattsapp you a walk & talk vid if that helps .

But even I can recognise a job well done; and that old fruit, is a job well done.

That would be brilliant! As @VSS has said I could I agine quite a few folk welcoming sight of this as we think about future designs
