Look up Into Africa Hunting Adventures. He is the owner of the company. He is also a member of this site, although he has not posted for quite some time. There are many that THINK and tell people they PH in Africa, but the greater majority wouldn't know a Dorcas Gazelle from a Lesser Kudu.

Another +1 for Roo Ellis and the Hunting Agency.

I done the South Africa ranch thing and while I enjoyed it want to hunt unfenced, and went and hunted Damaraland in Namibia with Roo, had and an amazing time, hunted an unfenced area the size of Belgium, just four of us hunting, spectacular scenery, no point in trying to explain, it can only be experienced, and great hunting.

Everything Roo said and organised happened, I would not hesitate booking with him again.

Long time ago before it became the hunt magnet it is, I hunted with Ken Morris (Byseewah Safaris).....great time, excellent local knowledge & good value (got a super kudu)...

I've visited Namibia a couple of times and hunted there last year with Omuramba Safaris in Boesmanland - very good experience.

I've also hunted in Zimbabwe and Tanzania, where I lived for a decade, and have visited many African countries.

I just don't see any point in going through an agent - why complicate things? There are many owner/operators in Namibia and for the most part you will be hunting on ranches - albeit very large ranches. There does appear to be a little open land hunting in the Damaraland or maybe Kaokoland areas - but I would guess you will be paying well over the odds for this and the openings will be limited and the game naturally scarce - I have driven through these semi-desert areas right up to the Angolan border and whilst there certainly is game by the very nature of the landscape it is not at the same population levels as on ranches where there is borehole water to keep it alive. Bear in mind that Namibia is a very large place and distances are great wherever you are going.

If you are at all interested in Africa and its people and landscapes Namibia is a great place to travel in - there are many great lodges and campsites and with a suitable vehicle you can really do your own thing - with the warning that this is still Africa and if things go wrong it can be very serious - you need to plan thoroughly.

I have just come back from Namibia and would like to recommend Sebra Hunting Safaris in the North-west near Kamanjab, small family run operation with hunting on a 850,000 acre conservancy and great trophy quality (kudu took a hit 2 years ago from rabies but a few big bulls still about)
