ND3x50 Laser Light.

I am considering getting one of these lights for foxing, could anyone with one tell me how wide the beam goes and if they are suitable for shooting foxes at 150-200yrds?

Hi mate,
I bought the more powerful model and you can see/identify well past the 150-200 yards marks , we have taken a fair few foxes with ours .....very happy with it

Waste of money, I have built led torches that will do that and more for a fraction of the price, they also make the nm800 look like a candle

I have the Sub Zero version and I think it is fantastic bit of kit. It is like looking though Night Vision but without the eye sore that comes afterwards. It is not cheap but if you can justify the expense then go for it. I was looking at Roe 400 meters away and watched them walk to within 50m of me.....they are oblivious to the green light.

Any more info on how to do this ?

Go to the nightvisionformuk there's lots of people modifying torches using infer red led's, just swoop the ir led for a red cree XPE or green for that matter and hay prestoe a torch better than can be bought over the counter.

Thanks for input, does anyone have any opinions on the cheaper Optimus ND50?
Yes bud, they go dim then off after a short while as soon as it gets a little cold, hence why they brought out the sub zero.

This product truly is one of the biggest wastes of money as far as shooting accessories go. It's a solution to a problem that didn't exist. I'm not saying they don't work just that they work at a very high price for what they are.

Mark, Thanks for the NV website suggestion, do you know if it is possible to change the laser in the ND50 to make an IR torch?

Your right the T20 is a great base for modification, as for the 501B, well I think your name has to be Dave to get excited about them :D

You should get over to nightvisionforumuk for lots of easy diy torches and lamps all better than you can buy at the price.

I have my own lathe so make my own torches, very satisfying ;)

Ive read a lot & followed links on Dave's 501B conversions & also on conversion of T20 to IR but what is the T20 like in standard form & what are the options to uprate in visible light- white, red, green etc ?

The T20 is a good little torch in it's standard form, not far short of the nm800 at a fraction of the price, you would easily spot a fox at 250 yards plus. You can make and fit red and green leds using the excellent cree XPE on a 16mm base and fitting a new single mode driver, the standard 3 mode drivers are a pain in the butt, all easy to obtain and cheap as chips as long as you can wait for the slow boat from china. All you need is a soldering iron.
