The only laser designators I have ever used involved me pointing it at something, then a nice man from the RAF would bowl along and deliver a nice surprise! Had noting at all to do with inproving night vision, bit unsure about this one!

I have one but it is the 3x50 subzero version and works better in very cold weather. Woodydog.
