evening, got a donnington deer hoist permanently fitted to my trailer arm, which is working great on the fallow. It has a manual boat winch that i would like to swap to electric with a remote control. Back of vehicle has power and welded dog box robustly fitted, that i could mount to and run wire cable to hoist.

Finding lots of recovery type high weight ones on web for moving cars and boats but after something smaller. Thanks

Smallest ones are usually 2000lbs and you really don't want to go below that.

You said "back of vehicle has power". Even small winches will draw 50-100A when under load. So you might need to rewire (or fit second battery near the winch).

One more thing, electric winches are usually quite noisy, especially cheap ones. To the extent that you'd need ear protection if near the winch and using it a lot.

Quad winch is what you want. I've got a warrior ninja 2000lb winch with a wireless remote in the back of my pickup for pulling in reds and it's great. If I was to buy again though I'd get something a bit more powerful like a 3000lb one. The winchmax one that has been mentioned above is also a great winch.

I have one fitted to my trailer and whilst you can certainly hear it I am not even slightly concerned about the noise damaging my hearing. It’s not like you put your ear right next to it either.
Additionally, whilst the current it pulls might be 50amps when it’s fully loaded, I doubt it’s even 10 amps when pulling in a red.

Winch not under load..... to be honest it isn't noisy, the iphone Mic is sensitive and makes it sound like a rattle.

Quite frankly, I couldn't care less if it make a racket - so long as it pulls stags into the back of the truck i'm okay with that!
