Negligent Discharge

If it was being wheeled out of a hangar, it would seem to be an accidental rather than a negligent discharge.
The world has moved on; there is no longer any such thing as an "accidental" discharge.

It is much the same in Roads Policing - what used to be called "RTAs" Road Traffic Accidents are now referred to as "RTCs" Road Traffic Collisions.

Someone has to be at fault or else how would all those No Win No Fee Solicitor darlings earn a crust?

Having an " AD" on camp in Rhodesia earned you 14 days glasshouse.

When I had my training back in 1900 and frozen to death, we talked of "ADs" which evolved into "NDs".
I suppose it does help to get the right mind set.

I also recall when they introduced ballistic bags for "making safe".

I think it was l less than a week before someone put a hole in it.

According to reports the helicopter was not crewed at the time of discharge. Also doesn't the chain gun have a bit of a history of firing without human intervention when mounted on AFVs ?
I seem to recall an incident in the first gulf war when a dismounted sergeant in an armoured unit was killed by the chain gun of his vehicle when it fired of its own accord and without any human intervention.
So I would go along with the suggestion that this might possibly be an accidental discharge rather than a negligent discharge.

You don't think having ammunition in it while parked up in the hangar was negligent?
