Nest building or.....

Just sat having my lunch and there's a frantic Robin flying in and out of the bushes with a beak full of building materials for either a nest or a storm shelter, not sure which, but seems a little presumptuous to find a mate in this weather
Anyone else seeing the early bird catching a mate.

Robin are an early nester, often known them nest building in February.

Sat watching a pair of collar doves mating in the trees last week, sounds pervey I know but honestly I’m not

Sitting in Costa drive-thru last week, M6, J 32, and watching a pair of magpies building their nest. This week it looks almost complete. Also watched blue-rocks mating in the garden, similar, but not same, (honestly) as 'Tugmande' .... Starlings in and out of their box also. Spring is on the way.

Starlings, sparrows and blue tits very busy in and out of our nest-boxes for the last week or so but methinks a false notion of Spring. In a few weeks we will hang out our onion bags filled with woodpigeon feathers which all our garden birds love for nest lining and see what develops….

Aye, they sense the lengthening days. They will stop again if it goes cold again like next week.
The rooks are getting busy too.
