New Deer Stalking App - First Light

Sohaib I have just put two and two together and remembered you from the sim days.

Glad you have enjoyed your stalking journey enough to create something like this and give back. Useful tool and well designed.

My only suggestion would maybe be pages regarding finding the nodes and the diseases like liver fluke etc. kind of like the info in the BDS field guide that every stalker should have, but we all leave at home.

Thanks Jason, that sim day back in 2023 really helped with DSC1.

Good points re finding the nodes, I will include in the next version.

Thank you, I have had a look. As a new stalker I like the look and feel it would benefit me as a resource.

Really useful tool. Find I am using it for reference when planning most outings instead of Met Office etc. the info I need is all on the front page, no scrolling needed. Great work, look forward to watching it develop further.

Really enjoying using it - user friendly, concise, and easy to navigate. Deer Forecast does seem to be fairly spot on and predicts movement times and intensity fairly well. Nice to be able to start taking into account other factors rather than just whether is is raining or not , all helps to build up a picture of habits and routines on the ground.

Good result from last night as well

I’ve been using this quite a bit over the last few weeks and have to say it’s really well put together. It’s clear a lot of thought has gone into it and it actually focuses on the things you want when you’re heading out, rather than trying to do too much.

The legal times and at a glance conditions are what I’ve found most useful. It’s the sort of thing you can quickly check without faffing about between different apps, which is half the battle when you’re deciding whether to get up early or not.

The design is also spot on. Clean, simple, and intuitive. It doesn’t feel cluttered like some of the other apps out there.

Really interested to see where you take it next. If the upcoming update builds on what’s already there, it’s going to be a very handy tool for a lot of people on here.

Many thanks, good effort.
