Hi all,

Just thought I’d introduce myself as I’ve recently joined the forum. I’m based in North Yorkshire and currently do a bit of target shooting and rabbit control. Lately I’ve been getting more interested in deer stalking and hoping to learn more about getting started.
I’ve been reading through some of the threads already and there’s clearly a lot of knowledge here, so I’m looking forward to picking up advice and learning from the more experienced members.

Many on here interested in deer stalking go for the DSC1 certification. I went the BASC route as the theory is all online and you just need a local AV to verify your marksmanship skills at 100m. I then did the Meat Hygiene course, again theory online then a stalk with the same AV which included a kill and gralloch then home for tea and medals. Most enjoyable!

My mistake, I went for the Shooting and Hunting Academy Proficient Deer Stalker 1 cert. Much easier than the BASC DSC1 Cert.

Hi if any of you guys are with land but are not yet feeling 100% confidence. I might be able to help on your early stalks ? Time for me to pay back others that helped me the same when I started a few decades ago . No payment the same as my mentor did for me I am bordering Yorkshire and reside in the forest of Boland . with my deer dog if required

Thanks for the offer. I don't have any of my own permissions sadly.

I'm hoping to do a stalk with BASC later this year in Bowl and which is where I did my DSC1.
