Hi everyone,
I decided to join up after seeing many good discussions and stories through net searches and linked from our local hunting forum.
I'm based in the South Island of New Zealand. Started hunting rabbits and pest birds as a youngster in the North Island a long time ago. Going to university made it harder to pursue shooting so I moved on to archery for a few years. I also discovered mountain biking and cycling in general which led to many years working in the cycle industry.
I had always had the urge to get started again in hunting and recreational shooting, and moving to the South Island has given me access to some amazing opportunities. Earlier this year I fulfilled a longtime dream to get my first deer - a red spiker on historic Molesworth station.
I spent some time in Buckinghamshire in the early 2000s and was able to observe many Muntjac in the Chilterns whilst riding my bike. I have also spent time in the Shropshire countryside, again exploring by bike. This has only furthered my fascination with the outdoors and hunting there.
I currently have a CZ457 in 22LR for small game, a Howa 1500 in 6.5 Creedmoor for larger game and another Howa in 223 which so far I've shot several wallabies with. Pending further load development it should be useful for many different sorts of game when the opportunity arises.
I look forward to participating in the forum's and offering up the few things I've learned along the way.
Cheers,
Steelisreal.
