Hi,
Born and bred in Yorkshire. I like deer stalking, short/long-distance target shooting, and clay pigeon shooting.
I have stalked in Northumberland and Nottinghamshire, observing fallow, roe, and muntjac, unfortunately with no safe shot.
My first deer was a roe doe, on an accompanied stalk in Thetford Forest, with a .243, at 130m.
I have shot .243/ .308 and .30-06 on a range, from 50m out to 300m.
I would probably choose .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor as my main calibers.
I have completed my DSC1, NGO Game Meat Hygiene trained Hunter, BASC Intermediate Deer course, BDS Deer Management Course, Gralloching and Carcass Handling course, and Purdoms Range Centre Fire Reloading course, which I found excellent and would recommend.
I do not have a FAC yet.
I recognise I still have a huge amount to learn and need to build my practical stalking experience. This is the main reason I joined the forum.
