Hi all,
My name is Darcy and I’m based in East Sussex.
I spend a lot of my time stalking across mixed woodland and farmland, focusing on learning and developing solid fieldcraft. I’m particularly interested in understanding deer movement and patterns, along with improving stalking techniques. I also do a bit of pest control and enjoy the wider field sports side, including foxing and shotgun shooting.
In terms of background, I’ve been shooting small game for around 7 years, starting out with airguns and progressing onto rimfire. I currently shoot with .22LR and .17 HMR, and have recently applied for my .243 as I’ve been asked to help with deer management on certain permissions. I’m due to take my DSC1 and have a mentor lined up for future stalks.
Over the years I’ve been out on lots of stalks acting as a spotter and well versed in gralloching and butchery. I’ve had exposure to fallow, roe and muntjac so far, and one of my long-term goals is to have the opportunity to stalk all 6 UK deer species.
I’d describe myself as relatively new to stalking but very keen and committed, always looking to learn, improve, and pick up best practice from others.
Looking forward to learning from the forum and contributing where I can.
Cheers
