New mobile contract any way to tell best 1's for rural/remote areas?

Vodafone coverage had improved greatly in the Borders over the last year. But no matter who you go with there will be not spots. Plenty area will have no coverage from any network.

An I.T. guy was telling me about an "internet of things" sim that pick up any network. Don't know the details but might be worth a google

It always has irritated me that the government selling off the licences to the mobile phone companies did not specify that it must be a seamless service for the users.

If they can operate a roaming service whenever we travel abroad why on earth can’t we roam in this country and use whichever signal we can access, and not just 999 calls.
