Have you tried hiring an MOD range in recent years? The cost is prohibitive for many clubs, and even if you can get two or three clubs to share the cost you still need a good turn-out to make it viable. They even charge for range warden overtime for staff that don't even turn up!
Yes I agree that the costs for hiring this private range are high but I also appreciate that it is a commercial concern. It just makes me realise what good value our club range is (100yd indoor range £50 a year membership, no range fees). I am definately going to suggest putting up the guest fees as we currently only charge £3 a visit for guest shooters.
