New VED Rates

And what would you know about commuting long distance using the trains? They are expensive, you quite often don’t get a seat, they are extremely unreliable, and they don’t get you to every destination that you need to get to.
I can’t carry all of my bags and sometimes equipment too, they don’t take me from one site to another when I need to go.

You know absolutely nothing about my job and yet you presume that the train is the only logical means of transport, just so that you can spout off at someone for whom an EV would most definitely not be a suitable mode of transport.
Don't get upset buddy.
Some people live in a warm fluffy ideal world and everyone else is just wrong.
You carry on doing what you do otherwise their fluffy world will collapse!

I worked offshore for 10 yrs in the North Sea

Hope that helps.

Well I obviously won't be able to get a new company leased truck when this one expires. Anyone who thinks that electric won't be just as heavily taxed when everyone switches, is delusional.

Our electricity bill is already horrendous, we can't afford solar, we can't afford a new car.

The local eco warriors love to suggest that everyone can afford to go electric. Apparently old nissan leaf models are super cheap so all the poor can buy them (never mind they did about 70 miles new, and now those batteries have degraded).

I'm still not sure why hydrogen lost out

I know many wont be buying many of the V8s on this list but the Ford Ranger, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Hilux, VW Amarok.

"A buyer of a Range Rover could be charged as much as £5,490 – up from £2,745 – in that first year of ownership. Chancellor Rachel Reeves told MPs in her Budget statement: “To help drive the transition to electric vehicles the government is strengthening incentives to purchase EVs by widening the differentials in Vehicle Excise Duty First Year Rates between EVs and hybrids or internal combustion engine cars."

How nice of them to 'help' the transition.

No 2.4 hilux on there ?

Read my lips:

Despite all the hand wringing about falling birthrates etc. there are now simply too many bloody people in this country for the majority to have a sustainable decent lifestyle, and it's getting exponentially worse.....

D.

If EVs are such a wonderful idea why are government limousines , ambulances, fire engines, police cars and tanks still primarily ICEs ?

Because our public services have trouble even running on their budgets, let alone fleets of EVs.

Also can you imagine the roads. They crumble already, and EVs are heavy

There are also too many bloody people in almost every country.

Because its only us minions who need to be controlled...
Tin hat time ?.
It does seem to be a matter of do as I say rather than do as I do from the gas guzzling public sector and politicians. Looking forward to climate change conferences being done over the internet rather than via climate changing air flights before the hypocritical utterings from Starmer, Attenborough and the rest can be taken seriously.

Attenborough? Hardly hypocritical....he's the only "celeb" I know who has said publicly that there are too many human beings on this planet.
