Hey folks, newbie to hunting, currently probationary member of two rifle clubs in central Scotland. Practicing prone and bench rest target shooting. Undertaken a couple of BASC and Lantra safe shot and night shooting courses. Only just applied form AWC a requisite in Scotland, and once my probation in the rifle clubs are approved, I plan to apply for my FAC.
Interested in various quarry, pest control with PCP air rifle first, once confidences and competences are proven, I’ll move to purchase a .22LR for my target club interest and probably start off with 177HMR and progress to 223 or such for my next learning step. Ultimately will progress ont large game, but respecting experience and safety, it’s one step at a time. Excuse beginners naivety in my questions and posts, my country childhood only involved a BSA springer, rabbit snaring, guddling and fly fishing. I currently keep birds of prey, so the supply of rabbits should furnish their feeding and my table well.
