Night Master 800 or ND100 Laser

I just bought a ND50 Glacier yest. Very very early days but impressed so far

I have done the exact same as u Bali searchingthrou threads etc and does seem to be a lot of contraciction out there.
The Lasers seem to be a bit of a marmite thing.
But all the people in shops say they are a really good product, i bought mine at Game and Country in Selkirk £190 for 50, £240 for 100 and think around the £150 mark for an NM800, they have sold a lot and they supply a lot off the local keepers so if it was no good they would not be selling them. I bought the 50 as seemingly the laser must require a lot of power to start up so sometimes the 100 can have a slight delay (2-5secs, wether that is actually a problem i don't know?) but boys in shop said the 50 is fine, i spot with a normal lamp anyway so just wanting something solight for pulling the trigger
.
I had a wee shot with mine last nite (but unfortunately had some prob's with the mount so was bodged to the top off my rifle scope) pretty impressed so far, never had such a clear picture throu my scope lamping before ever!! When i get the proper mount on tonite i'm expecting it to be even better.
Absolutely no mod glare, :-D up to now been using a bit of 2" drainage pipe elasticed onto my scope

The big thing for me is can animals see it?? Sadly i'd say yes althoui not 100% decided. Never seen any foxes broc or rabbits last nite but loads off deer, some stood and grazed happily while others were a bit flighty while some took off, but the lamp and even lamp with filter does the exact same. PLus it may have been something else that spooked deer it's a reasonably heavily poached area so the deer are fairly wise

Uptill now been using a clulite (shootalite?) small torch thigy on top of my lamp which has done fine, but this is in a different league all together s far

Finally while i think/know the animals can see the 'light/laser' they probably don't move as not been shot at and missed by that 'funny light' so don't associate it with danger yet, plenty of animals will sit in full beam off a lamp too and not move the first time, but muck it up and they don't sit for long

I'll be out a bit over next few days so will see how it goes but i have never tried an nm800 or small powerful LED torch so hard for me to compare. They are completely different things thou

With these small LED torches that are producing a very powerful and focussed beam do u not get problems frightening aimals, esp if no dimmer type control

it would be great if you could follow up your report after a few outings

Should off been out tonite, totally p***ed off, just spent 11/2 hours trying to get the bloody thing mounted. Not a happy bunny. Spent an 1hr last nite as well ended up taking mounting bracket back to shop to swap.

No good that as i hoped to switch it between my rifles, but not going throu that every time. Still bloody not right either
Think it's only the fine threads and 2.5mm allen key so really fiddly dunno why didn't just use slightly bigger studs would have made life a bit easier. Can see me gettin someone to drill and retap for larger studs, f**k going throu that every time

Will let u ken how i get on,
Bit off a chill in the air now too, would off tested it a bit more.

countrryboy if you go back to the cow shed they have a spare mount for 12.99 as I returned my laser nd 100 on Friday the 1st nov along with the spare mount atb the highlander

I'm still impressed with mine, compared to wot i used to use it is absolutely brilliant. But my mind is not 100% made up yet, but it is definately not scareing everything while it is also not invisible either
Got my blitz working again for spotting and with this laser thing very happy

The first nite i went out never seen any foxes but must off shone it on something like 50-80 fallow(possibly more, so many don't even bother counting them now) scattered about and they all reacted differently some showed no reaction will some walked for cover, majority were inbetween but not really overly bothered with it, i have ahand held led light (struggle to shoot much over 120ish m with it) and it scares more deer than the ND50, but it is on white the now as can't find the filter

This morning walking back to van was getting almost full light, about 6.30ish, bumpped into a fox about 40--50m gave it a quick squek turned laser on (which was focused further away so quite an small intense beam only about 1ft wide) bloody fox trotted straight towrds me, as soon as i moved the llaser slightly off it it would stop, move laser back onto it walked towards me, done this a few times, eventually got to about 15m and this is in almost broad daylight.
I've never seen anything like it, esp with such a small intense beam, it was like some sort of tractor beam fox came in straight as a die. I have seen foxes run down the beam towards me on the lamp before, but not like this so straight and like i said almost broad daylight.
But to be fair mibee not the sharpest fox in the woods, the foxes on that farm are very naive and stupid as they don't get shot, squeeked it in another 2 times to around 10m, probably the closest i've ever had a fox come into me and esp in daylight. Must admit if somone told me about it i wouldn't believe them

The biggest thing i can't get my head round with these small super powered LED torches, is how an led torch doesn't spook them? No matter wot type off lamp ( all bulb type lamps, filtered, unfilterd, dimmer switches etc) i have had over the last 20-25 years have always been able to spook quarry even the old crappy lamp that hardly go 50yd, so can't understand how a lamp that can shine for hundreds and hundreds will not spook quarry if in close, and as i said my hand held led still spooks stuff and it's not that powerful

That's similar to what me and my mate had, two foxes came running in at the same time dead straight along a Clulite beam I was shouting to squeak or anything to stop them the problem was it was one of those times when the laughter took over and my mate could not hold the light steady and my cross hairs were all over the place. I think I am now going for the led light scope mounted

I just posted this in general discussion...

here ya go......

Those laser designators aren't what you'd expect..... I have the light like in the link and a green laser designator. The laser stops working under 10 degrees Celsius and bothers the animals.... I have shined fox, badger, hogs, deer, dogs, cats, and horses with the light and they don't even notice it. The laser designator makes them nervous right away. One morning, I had 6 deer laying about 50 ft off the trail I was driving.. car lights never bothered them, I stopped, put down the window and shined the light on them with no reaction. Shined them with the laser designator and they started to stir... Went on and came back about 20 minutes later and hit them with the light again and no reaction. Our horses have the same reaction.... light and don't even lift their head, laser designator, they move away immediately...
I have also used this, an American buddy sent me one to try, as we love torches .ooooops ! for hunting certainly. This was tops for us also, aftr trying the lazer nd-50 with good but not as good results, & 107 fox & 9 month later. I go with Daven ;)

Hi
I have an ND3 50 Subzero and can confirm that it works well / Ok for foxing, some spook some are not too fussed. The range is superb but hard to define "matt" objects in the green light. What I mean by this is that if a fox is sitting in a tree line and not looking at you its hard to pick out the fur against trees etc. As soon as the foxes eyes or white chest fur hit the light, its clear as day.

I was considering a mm800 having seen my friends in use. I have since been on night vision forum and bought a t74 off sikastag (Ian) it is a beast. Admittedly, the size of the head needs some mounting but the distance I can get is something else. Much better than the mm800 and cheaper too!

I was out with a NM800 with IR led, it was really good but in the drizzle the beam can be dispersed a bit, it didn't cost us any shots. I think when the time comes for me I will be getting an Olight they are awesome my mate has a warrior and its brilliant.

i use a £30 T20 fitted Oslon black IR its works fine with my home made nv out to 250y
or got a T20 fitted with a 66mm head + XPE Red Pill and im getting 600y
or fit it bOslon black IR and good for 400y with it no problem and best the NM800 hands down on performance and price
