Norma Whitetail factory ammunition was a slow surprise….
I have a Bergara BA13 Strata chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor and shot some factory Norma Whitetail 140gr soft point ammo over the chronograph, a 10 shot string produced an average of 2420fps over a Garmin Xero radar.
The fat little Bergara has a 20" barrel so I would have thought a 100fps slower than box speed, however that is 2657fps (assuming a 24" barrel), I was at least expecting 2500fps!
I guess all the Creedmoor bluster is just that, my CZ557FS in the grand old 6.5x55SE smokes this load in a 20" barrel with a ton of room to push it harder.
At 2260fps my 9.3x62 is almost faster with 285gr bullet

A lot of the 140-143gr range ammo will produce 24-2500fps from a 20” 6.5cm barrel

Will work fine
Deer (and bigger targets) have been killed by 6.5 Mannlicher Schoenauer for decades before Hornady came onto the scene
Same velocity lower!!

Bloody hell that is slow! I just moved away from Hornady American white tail 129gr 22inch barrel because it was slow and inconsistent at range and that was 2700fps average.

2420fps would be a lot of bullet drop! I get that is will still kill humanely and it would probably be consistent but the max point blank range on that would Be short.
Half the time there isn’t time to range and dial so it would be guessing hold over or a digital scope with range finder/ bc calculator.
