Wanted: Nosler 17 fireball brass

I make Some of my 221 Fireball cases from .223 brass. If I use Remington cases the finished 221 cases don’t need neck turning. Any other than Rem brass and I’d need to turn necks. Rem brass must be thinner.
Not many more steps down to 17 FB, but don’t know whether you’d get away without neck turning.
Cheers, Ken.

Hi,
223 Remington case once through 221 FB body die.
Trim to FB length.
Once through 17 FB or 17 Mach 1V die and this result.
I don’t have 17 FB loading stuff so don’t know what neck measurements will be after neck sizing.
Ken.

hi Ken, I too am looking at making 17 fireball brass, as well as above, are you/would you anneal the brass ?

Hello there,
I would anneal a few and try them and if they work, fine.
I’ve had too many failure with annealed cases so now just deprime and sonic clean before forming.
Cheers, Ken.
Ps. My form dies are for 17Mach IV, so cases formed in these dies can be fired in 17 Fireball chambers, but not vice versa.

One more question Ken, the forming dies
You use, are these full length dies you taken the gubbins out or actual dies for the job? This isn’t something I know much about and seems daunting atp the moment.

These are mine.
To be used for forming 17 Fb cases from 221 Fb cases.
As said previously, if you also have a 221 Fb Body die you can start with 223 or 222 cases.
Cheers, Ken.
