OEX Vertex 130 Roof Tent

I am considering getting one of these and the associated awning for a festival stay in the summer. Last year, we hired a bell tent on site, and the cost would cover more than half the roof tent price. After the festival, I could use the tent minus the awning for overnight fishing trips.

The OEX tent seems reasonably priced for occasional use and looks quick to pitch. I imagine in autumn they can be warmer as you are not lying on the cold ground, even more so if the thermal liner is fitted.

Does anyone use one of the OEX roof tents and can share an opinion?

mate I have one and its pretty decent actually, ive used it in summer and winter and it held up well. does suffer with condensation a bit so you need to air it well after your done. very comfy, i'm 5 10" and its ok length wise, I reckon if your over 6ft you'll have to sleep diagonally.

Cheers, I’m 6ft so should be fine. Footprint wise it’s the same as my OEX bandicoot 2, but as the sides are more vertical on the roof tent it should feel a bit more roomy. I’ve just checked and this year the bell tent is £450!

I had one before switching to a more low profile roof tent. I used to worry about it on the pickup hard top due to the height. New one comes in at 1.9m total height so I can now go into car parks again!

OEX was perfectly suitable though for occasional use and the only criticism I would have is the cover flapped in the wind on the motorway. It did this no matter what I did with the securing straps. Easy solved though with a couple of ratchet straps.
