Do any of you collect or restore old cars or motorcycles? I know this is a hunting and firearm forum, most of you have to have secondary interests as well. I primarily collect guns and shooting related stuff, but I also have a large baseball glove collection and a couple of hot rods.

I have only owned two European cars in my life, first was a Triumph GT-6, second was a Renault Caravelle. The GT-6 was a lot of fun, the Caravelle was a lot of frustration.

My current hotrods are, a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340, 4spd, and a 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 with a 440 and automatic transmission. The Dart is a fun and fast cruiser, the Coronet is a retired race car that hasn't been registered for street use since 1978, it is ugly but scary fast. I just got the Coronet inspected and licensed for the street.

I knew a lad who had a Caravelle back in the 1980's when they probably weren't considered classics. Didn't they have an air-cooled engine in the back? I think he hoped it would look cool and be a bird-puller. In reality it was constant trouble.

Yes they were rear or mid engine and air cooled. You are correct it was a constant paint in the ass to keep running. I finally traded it for a 6 pack of beer just to get rid of it.

I owned a MK3 GT6 up until last year, great little car that was super fun to drive. I sold it to a young lad as his first classic and I hope he does well with it.

I also own a 73 Ford F100 truck that I imported a few years ago. It’s currently a work in progress in the garage. I can’t wait to get it back up and running though. It is a short bed, 4x4 with a 4 speed manual box. It’s running a 390 FE that’s been tinkered with, I think it came out of a galxie 500 car.

I love the F100 . My old man had the same truck . He bought it new in 73 . The 390 is a good engine , I've used them in a few vehicles over the years , including a 76 F150 , great old truck .

Beautiful rides brother . One old friend of mine , now sadly gone , had a 1970 Roadrunner with a 440 six pack in it . I loved that car and almost bought it at one point , but I bought a first year Kawasaki Z1 900 instead ........ I really liked that bike , especially after I put a Russ Collins 1013 kit in it . I'm pretty sure I saw Jesus waving at me a few times when I was screaming around on it lol . Since you're a gear head , do you remember the Atchison , Topeka and Santa fe ?

I’ve still got the Capri and a mk2 fiesta track car that’s currently in a million bits 😂😂 sold off mk2 escort, sierra 4x4 and another Capri when I moved house in 2020, with the prices of Old Ford’s I won’t have anything else in future sadly 😅

The aforementioned Lotus Cortina. Vulcan Engineering big valve head, L2 1/2 race cams, Lumenition electronic ignition. It was photographed a couple of years ago at a vintage vehicle rally near Middlesborough, is currently taxed but no MOT although the DVLA history shows it has done a few miles annually for several years. It is probably still around, I would love to know where it is.

Just found this YT clip on it being restored in 2011….wonder if it came to fruition?

I saw Russ race a few times over the years , but not the ATS . The triple is a legend , the first bike to break the 8 second bracket . He was a major influence on high performance motorcycles . Vance and Hines both worked for him originally , they continued what he started .
I don't think his son ever completed the restoration , if he did , I haven't heard about it .
