I'm definitely not jealous and my welds definitely don't look like spattery chicken ****.
That's all I have to say on the matter.

Not at all, no worriesI hope I didn't cause any offence. I was trying to make a joke - you're clearly talented.

It sure takes time and practice, I find it surprisingly therapeutic. Mental switch off and focus.
Train to be a Heavy plant fitter,Cut your way in and weld yourself back out.not really into weld bead art myself but each to their own a good bead to me is one nobody bothers to look at or even sees for that matter .
When i trained it was stratch start in the main part , there was HF AC/DC but they where reserved for work that really needed them straight CO2 on the mig Sets and everyone who called themselves a welder could OFW and MMA on the bench and positionally
A Lot of the processes are de-skilled now , Job cards you plug in so some guys loose the ability to leave for better jobs and pay . Same with most hands on Engineering , we are loosing the skills to fix stuff as a nation and that's dangerous Especially when it seems likely we will be fighting a War soon enough
Have done a massive range jobs in the trade , today that's rare, very rare in fact . Yeah even heavy plant , rally car Mods , Boats tiny little components i have held together with plasticene to get a few tacks in first , modifying the Lancashire cotton factory machines in its last gap for air ( twice as many on fire duty as on the tools on that one !)Train to be a Heavy plant fitter,Cut your way in and weld yourself back out.

Ha, multi talented people like you would have gone down a treat around Liverpool ( And other areas) in the 1970s.Have done a massive range jobs in the trade , today that's rare, very rare in fact . Trade has changed massively now , the ability to do more than one type thing surprised many guys when i did my last contract. I found that sad because it leaves folks unable to swich tasks as the market and industry and the machines change. You wont find many who are really Competent with OFW now unless they are around 60 and from time to time its not just the best way but the only way
There was very few working in Liverpool at that time . Indeed when i started in the 80s it was roughHa, multi talented people like you would have gone down a treat around Liverpool ( And other areas) in the 1970s.
If an electrician used a wood screw it would cause down tools (Strike) and out we go! Joiners use wood screws.
Same with several other things silly like that.
Only joiners could sharpen pencils.
It was a bad time to be in the construction industry for sure.
