We have had the discussion about stalking excuses on the lack of deer on paid stalking so for those on here who game shoot I would like to here any excuses they have heard about the lack of birds on what is now an expensive day I will start us off.
1. The wind is blowing the wrong way.
2. It rained the other night.
3 And my favourite drive abandoned a fox has just run through it.

From a keeper at the end of a day to the host who had taken the day I was a guest on “I really don’t understand it, the birds were here when we shot these drives yesterday”.

Which in fact was once said to us guns as the reason the wood held no birds when usually it held a good enough number.

Last Wednesday we had FIVE roe deer erupt from our best drive, so there were pheasant everywhere, mostly over me. I was happy with six for eighteen shots but others got nothing...
