Opinions on different Tikka T3X models please.

Maybe the added weight is negated by the Roughtech's fluted barrel?

I picked one up recently; lite is 16mm barrel; rough tech or similar models 18mm (but fluted), CTR 20mm and varmint 22mm.

I’ve got a 223 in lite.
Just got a 6.5 creed in rough tech.
Plan to change my 308 to a CTR further down the line.

Its a great cartridge and absolutely nothing wrong with being gay either :)
Very true 👍
6.5mm was considered connoisseur's choice (sp?) before Creedmoor became mainstream. Then again, I've heard nowhere as much ridicule as in SD (might be UK thing, don't follow other UK forums besides UKNV every now and then).

Ridiculers also get so upset, when I say that starting all over I'd choose Creedmoor over 260 Rem any day. It's just a wiser choice (if you dodge the small primer caveat for general use).
I love the pee taking that comes with owning one, much more fun :) If you dont have a sense of humor then dont buy a creed

I have the T3x Super Varmint in .243, yes its not light but by no means is it uncomfortably heavy even when kitted out with mod and scope but definitely requires a sling if you're lugging it around all day, but overall I think for the accuracy (and Looks...) I'll put up with the weight penalty which probably in the region of 6 ish Kg

I had a Tikka T3X Super Varmint in 25-06 with Schmidt & Bender 8x56, shot great, felt great , put it in a GRS Sporter stock, bedded action and it shot even better however was simply far too heavy. It carried like a fat pig but was an awesome range rifle that never really got used so I sold it and haven't looked back.

I think a Kilo of mud on your boots/heavier boots would be more of a pain than an extra Kilo of barrel. I suspect it's more to do with how you carry/sling your rifle.

I actually don't mind a heavy rifle, most big bores are weighty but varmint rifles seem to carry barrel down best IMO, I like to carry underslung muzzle forward and up and this doesn't really work.
I carried an Mag58 for a bit, at 10kg it was okay slung so it isn't weight, it's balance that counts when slung.
And yes, heavy boots suck.

I have had many Tikka rifles. They all shoot well in my opinion. I prefer the wood stock (T3 Hunter model) but if you like plastic get a T3 synthetic with a regular hunting barrel.

I really like the 260 Rem, it will do everything a Creedmoor will do for considerably less money. Certainly big enough to shoot anything in the UK humanely. Good for target shooting, cheap to reload, nice short action. If Brass is hard to find you can make some from 243 brass. There's a good variety of bullets, and its low recoil. What's not to like?

Used to have one in 22-250 and 308 as well. All shot great. You will like a Tikka for sure.
