Overwintered Nucleus Colony
Overwintered nucs are provided on five BS National Frames for £180
An ideal way to start beekeeping is to purchase a nuc and with our calm bees it is perfect for beginners. Our bees are disease resistance, low swarming tendencies and excellent honey production.
Your nuc will be supplied to you with brood at all stages (capped brood, larvae, and eggs) and a sufficient amount of stores.
All of our overwintered nucs are made in the previous season. The difference between an overwintered nuc & a normal summer nuc is that generally you are able to receive an overwintered nuc earlier and be able to harvest a spring crop and that they have proved their ability to overwinter.
All our breeding hives & overwintered nucs are treated for varroa routinely so your bees will be in prime condition on collection / delivery.
At Simple Beekeeping We breed our own queen bees in different remote breeding apiaries.
All of our queens are well and carefully selected, queen mothers have demonstrated Varroa Sensitive / Hygienic traits, high honey production and calm behaviour, doing very well in our climate and are locally bred by us
from two separate remote breeding stations.
For queen breed preferences please write this on the order and we will do our very best to match your preference.
The collection & delivery dates are generally the earliest we can get the nucleus colonies ready after Winter.
In rare cases collection dates may be delayed due to weather conditions however we expect Overwintered Nucleus Colonies to be ready around April 2025.
Please note, overwintered nucleus colonies are available for collection and delivery via Royal Mail Special Next Day Delivery guaranteed by 1pm for £20 per nuc.
Travel box can be provided for additional £15 or you can bring your own on collection.
We are taking £20 non refundable deposit. The balance, plus any delivery costs, will be invoiced and emailed over when your bees are ready.
