Packham and Co. causing trouble again...

Play them at their own game.

Start the survey by stating you are a “User of optics for wildlife watching and conservation” and then answer all following questions with a positive slant for “sports hunting”.

That will throw them. :D

BTW, be careful not to "out" any optics brand/manufacturer- they are likely to get boycotted or targeted by antis. This may be the sole purpose of the survey.

In fairness this is unlikely, all manufacturers have to advertise - principal source for targets I would have thought.

done, and stressed that for many years i was a director and chairman of two conservation charities, and at the same time enjoyed fishing and shooting, using many of the very best optical products to undertake both activities, and that the whole survey was biased and unnecessary.
It is annoying that this survey even takes place, verging on dirty tricks by those who have requested it.
Amusingly, i recently visited a very bird watching shop whilst on holiday, after spotting a very nice swarovski spotting scope in the window. I also wanted a set of binos for my son so spent some time looking about , and the staff, initially slightly distant were quickly very chatty when i asked to see the spotting scope, described what i would use it for, spotting deer, and birds on a moor i shoot on from the warmth and comfort of a residential caravan. In the half hour we chatted i told them i was a shooter, that i wanted the scope for shooting and general wild life observation and how i was as keen on wildlife as they were, but that i also spent my time outside and understood how little of Scotland is unchanged by mans hand, and as such we have to manage every aspect of it, as millennia of management have got us to where we are now. I now have a very nice new spotting scope and binos for my son!

Too bad pretty much everyone interested in both fields they are trying to polarise/set against each other with this "survey" recognise the better/best performing optical brands don't fall into these single issue fanatics' 'endorsed' shortlist, least of all RSPV's own brand. Afraid too, I'm one of those who has the dictionary with the word 'gullible' in it, and won't be easily convinced of their agenda by peddling such tripe. Typical mealy-mouthed weasel words, especially wording their 'findings' (views) with an eye to avoiding the condemnation of the hapless bushman or native-hunter gatherer types, natch, that's the way. Give the young tike Packhie his due though, he is the ideal expert for the likes of the BBC - they probably even think he knows what he is on about, saving the worlds wildlife from the comfort of his cosy-chat sofa and surrounded by his disciples and loved ones! Why d'ya think there's no more sign of David Bellamy, and they steer away from eliciting the views of proper, real, practical conservationists? Not fit with the Biased Broadcaster Co's agenda? Have a look at JRM politely demolishing their biased and manipulative interviewer on Hardtalk: Jacob Rees Mogg politely dismantles BBC interviewer for 23minutes - YouTube

Fake survey, fake news, fake agenda, fake conservationist. Next time you are on Islay, have a look (with your own choice of optics) for the 'biodiversity' of species afforded at no small expense on the Oa - laughable; 'No greater love hath they, that others lay down their money so that they may squander freely'

Like much of the 'Thought PC' nonsense being espoused these days, they assume everyone has to fit into their chosen mindset. I'd suggest they find another planet to follow their dreams, I saw Sigourney Weaver and John Hurt found a nice one for them a few years ago on the good ship Nostromo...

...

I have listened to JRM speak before and I think he will in time become quite an important person in the party. He handles himself incredibly well against such interviews, much better than many. Personally I would have lost my temper and smacked the interviewer about 20 seconds into the interview. I wish I could remember facts as well as he does. Probably why I am a lowly peasent and he is a posh sounding politician.
i do find most interviewers just seem to like the sound of their own voice and wriggle around every question without waiting for an Answer.

. You can't fogg the mogg

Good job for the explanation boxes. We use our optics for both. We spend more time in the "wilderness" than most. Not watching tv wildlife or programmes edited to fit someone's needs.
Of course in the past things were and are pushed to extinction.
I wish they would use their celebrity powers to stop them building on all the fields!!!
kills more wildlife than anything!!!!
