Painting barrels

Have been asked to paint a set of shotgun barrels mat /satin brown for a friend on his wildfowlin gun. I know this is a crime against guns!
Has anyone got a paint recommendation

A friend had his barrels painted. He was in the car body game and he got one of his lads to to it. It looked great. Painted an a black/ blue colour you couldn't tell it was painted at 2ft away.

Good preparation and 2k matte polyurethane paint would work well. Absolutely no need for super expensive firearm 'coatings'.

I totally agree with this . I recently painted an old Webley bolt action .410 with satin black metal spray can suitable for railings and gates. Once fully dry I buffed it up with crystalline wax finish. I surprised myself with how good it looks and how durable it has been.

If he wants something to take the shine off the barrels, a waxoil spray would do that.

Is there a good reason why he doesn't paint the thing himself? Other than that he can blame you if he doesn't like the result. I'd have thought that if you're asking advice on this, it'd be better for your friendship to decline.

A keeper mate of mine decided to paint the barrels on his side by side 12 bore with white emulsion so he could go pigeon shooting in the snow. Remnants of it still visible some years later!

Krylon Cammo spray paint - degrease the parts spray with paint. I’ve done rifles shotguns, sticks always been good when it needs to be freshened up can remove with nail varnish remover and resprayed (I’m sure another cleaner can be used but that’s what was around and worked when needed.)

Likewise here with krylon. Have done stocks, barrels, bipods, scopes and silencers. Multiple coats will give longer lasting results.

Prep is the key, time taken here will give a best results.

EC Spray paint is another good quality paint, harder wearing than krylon but harder to get hold of now.
