Parker Hale Mount Base - Rings wanted

Hello Guys,

i have a question regarding my Parker Hale bolt action rifle chambered in 30-06. It has very unique mounts which i never saw here. I need some rings to mount an Scope with 30mm tube. The Mount Bases are marked with "A40"(picture attached) - any idea what i should order there? I saw that Sportsmatch offers 17 and 19mm Rings which - probably - fits but im not really sure. Shipping costs are to high from the UK to Germany to do some trial and error.
The Budget for this rifle is limited so i dont wanna swap the whole mount base (if there is any chance to get rings which doesnt costs me 200 Bucks like the old original PA rings).

Thanks in advance,
Regards, George

You need Parker Hale rings. 30mm are hard to find though. Truthfully, you’d be better getting a new set of weaver bases and rings if on a budget. The weaver Mauser 98 / FN will fit. The weaver bases will also accommodate picatinny rings.

Warne also do good bases and rings for a Mauser 98 action, which this is

Just saw you are in Germany, that’s the home of Mauser actions, any store or gunsmith will have bases and rings aplenty!

Off course - but my local gunsmith made an offer about 400,-€ thats more than i wanna invest in that rifle, so thats the reason why i look for cheaper solutions. Would go for 1inch based Scope too, thats not the isssue at all.

Do away with what to all intent and purpose is a two-piece rail (without indents) and look for vintage or otherwise Redfield-like bases and 30mm rings.

This is even more important with a hard-kicking 3006 unless the PH bases have holes for matching rings with at least 1 recoil stud.

Trust me!

They might, but sports match are pretty low quality, so not a great solution for a hard recoiling 30-06 to be honest. Also look at Rusan
Well, the recoil is not the problem at all, ill use it with an Silencer (integraded muzzle break) - ill take a loot at rusan too. Thanks!

I have sportsmatch mounts on my 7 x 64 which probably has fairly close recoil characteristics to a 30 - 06 and they don't move at all.

Mine are on a CZ550 so I can't help there. Email Sportsmatch (address on their web site and they will reply promptly with advice.

Your local gunsmith is absolutely taking the **** asking for 400 Euros.

Ditch the pathetic alloy Parker Hale blocks, or if you really want to be an a skinflint keep them and buy a set off Sportsmatch rings (perfectly acceptable quality).
Otherwise look at a set of Weaver or Leupold blocks and rings, neither of which should be particularly expensive but will be off far better quality than anything Parker Hale ever originally fitted to their rifles.

Ditch the crappy P-Hal bases and, yes, underneath it is bog standard Mauser 98 profile on both front and rear receiver. Then try eBay for some used Redfield bases and rings. That's what my 30/06 Parker Hale M81 Classic rifle in the picture has. I forget if actual Redfield or if Leupold clones of the "Redfield system" turn in bases and ditto Leupold rings. But that's what it has. With a Zeiss 3-9x36 Diavari C.
