patches

Link here. No doubt other suppliers are available.

I bought a couple of old proshot 1 1/8" patches years ago and still using those. I use them for 6mm and 6.5mm rifles.

I've found this to be good size guide, also for other manufacturer's patches.

I cut up an old flannel bedsheet years ago into the appropriate size for various calibres. Not being tight just careful 🤣
Absolutely nothing wrong with that, done the same myself when my roll of 4x2 had run out as I too am careful.
Then my wife gave me a bag of a thousand 1" square patches that she had bought off Amazon for a couple of quid. She had bought them for her craft work but they were unsuitable however I've found them to be very good spiked on a jag with the number used varied for tightness to suit the calibre. For instance I will put two on the spike for the .308 and three together for the 8mm all on a .30 calibre spike type jag. Would probably work just as well with a 6.5 on the correct size jag.

Outing flannel bought by the yard from Wal-Mart/ASDA and an old style paper cutter (guillotine style swing blade) will set you up with more patches than you'll likely ever use.

People actually buy patches? I generate more cotton rags from worn out work shirts than I can use. I just keep one near my reloading bench and tear off whatever size I need as I go depending on the bore/jag combo I’m patching. The size of the patch is also dependant on the weight of the fabric

I'm going to hazard a guess that you don't clean your bore very often...

Well I’m not sure what the comparison is. I’m probably shooting at least one of my rifles a couple of times a week - so probably using about 10 patches a week on average, cleaned after every outing. At a guess I’d say there are 200+ patches per shirt, and I wear out about 6 a year. Does this count as not “very often”?
