Patterdale Terrier

I was given my my dog in 2006 in part payment of a debt for some building work I did with a builder pal for a local woman .
We both had a pup each.
The litter was an intentional cross between the woman's pet Parson JR and a black patterdale offered for stud at the time somewhere near Aviemore.
I chose a honey brown rough coated bitch and my mate had a black smooth coated dog.
What a dog she is .....still with me now and although grey of muzzle and slowing a little she still has the stamina, character, will, courage and temperament that seems typical of the breed/some patterdale crosses.
Having had numerous different terriers over the years I believe these dogs are pretty unique.
She's not what I'd call hard but has certainly been "hardy" .... absolutely no vets bills touch wood and physical strength and build brilliant. We don't have a rat problem.
As Marrajack said the pups in the litter had obviously different temperaments and I chose mine mainly because she chose me....confident and quick to please she's turned out to be the great all rounder I wanted.
My builder mate found out pretty soon his pup had strong prey drive when it killed his wife's two cats while still young.
Sadly I don't think the dog was given the time and space to develop and live as it's DNA needed which is a shame.
Great dogs, good to find this post.

Best bolting bitch I ever had came of Brian. A very small black smooth type bitch called missy.she would get into some very tight spaces. Lost her once and got her back thirteen months later.think her working style kept her alive till she was fifteen. Lucky too have owned and worked her
