Peltor 3M

Hi everyone... before I rip my newish hearing protection apart I though it would be wise to post my question first.

Does the white foam part on the inside of the ear protection come out so it can be cleaned? Mine have gotten all wet from rain and sweaty from use in the sun and have become unsightly...

The black outer pulls off mine and the foam then comes out. Mine are the electronic ones if that makes a difference

If youre going to take them apart, I recommend replacing original seal with the gel replacement 'tighter seal' which provides far better performance particularly for range work and with electronic versions. I bought mine from US auction site for far cheaper than UK suppliers. They dont seem as rugged, but they really have stood up to punishment.

Mine are the electronic version.. thanks for the suggestion about the gel 308tikka.

another question:

We havent had any proper rain my way, just a couple of drizzly days. how do yours fair in heavy rain? any problems with them getting too wet? they are electronic after all... or will a hat over it suffice.

cheers thanks again

They should stand a lot of rain, everything that could be susceptible to water damage is protected.

I have had 3 sets of 3M's go wrong after a soaking. The originals and the 2 replacements sets.

Each set has discharged the batteries after a day at clays in heavy rain - and continued to do so after being thoroughly dried out. I have now given up and simply remove the batteries after each use.

I wear mine every working day still going strong no matter the weather as do the other coaches surprised you had so many issues

well, theres no rain on my horizon as yet, I hope my take it ok because I am usually very hard on my equipment.

thanks guys for the info.
