Wanted: Pike Fishing

Hi All,

Does anyone know of some good pike fishing lakes or rivers in Herts/Essex? I'm not wanting a 20lb fish each cast but a good chance of a double would be good. We got my father back into fishing a few years ago but he's got a little down hearted with it lately so I would like to put him on a few good pike to get him interested again.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Matt.

cant help down there but if you are ever up in yorkshire i can take you out for some of these bad boys,

Thanks thats very kind of you but not our sort of fishing.

I'm just looking for some good waters local to here, I've fished for 28 years since I was 4.

Not sure how far Ardingly res , sussexs
is from you ,
Fishing at Ardingly

I've spent a few happy days chasing pike there in the past with plenty of multiple catches and multiple doubles also in a session
The fry should be starting to gather up in the Balcombe arms end about now , quite a sight to see watching the pike in such a feeding frenzy
Not quite pike a chuck but the fish you do hook into will be decent specimens

Ardleigh reservoir near colchester is good for piking i have not caught any whoppers there but i photographed a 28lb specimen for another fisherman who caught it, and he reckoned there are 30+ pounders in there hope this helps.

Ardleigh once held the British pike record at 44lb12oz

I used to catch a lot on the river Cam plus the odd zander as well - not desperately far from Herts/Essex. Never anything huge but always a lot of fun and not hard to catch at all. It was a few years since I last went but probably still worth a try. I always found river pike easier to catch than on lakes - maybe because they have to swim more and therefore eat more?? Or maybe just less pressure. PM me if you need any specific details.

Couger a lot of good pike in the canals near me live bait or lures. Good doubles local tackle shop got some pics of 17lb fish. Blithfield Anglers, Staffordshire's Premier Fly Fishing Club check this link out as well the talk is 40lb plus. Most large trout reservoirs usually do day tickets. Is Grafham near you, some monsters and big Zander too.
